Change your Life, Achieve your Purpose

I’m convinced you can do almost anything if you are willing to clarify your goals and then make the incremental investment over time to achieve them.

—  Michael Hyatt.

BIT BY BIT, YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH FAR MORE THAN YOU KNOW
Darren Hardy describes this concept as the Compound Effect. “It’s not the big things that add up in the end; it’s the hundreds, thousands, or millions of little things that separate the ordinary from the extraordinary.” Often, people think that others are just naturally gifted – but even the best get to where they are because of the compound effect. Michael Jordan was passed over for Varsity in high school, and this motivated him to work harder. “Whenever I was working out and got tired and figured I ought to stop,” said the basketball legend, “I’d close my eyes and see that list in the locker room without my name on it… that usually got me going again.” Many years later, he was still known for practicing before and after practice. His pre-practice actually became one of the keys of the Chicago Bulls’ work ethic, as the entire team would join him before the official practice!

Why does any of this matter? Because as you begin to make progress towards your goal, you also begin to make progress towards being the kind of person you want to be. You begin to realize that have the ability to shape your identity and become whatever and whomever you choose.

Commit to consistency. If you focus on the final outcome, it’s easy to get overwhelmed. But if you focus on putting one foot in front of the other and completing one action at a time, you’ll eventually look up and find yourself closer to your goal. Even more importantly, you’ll find yourself growing as a person.

ONLY YOU HAVE THE POWER TO SHAPE YOUR IDENTITY
Researchers have discovered that you actually shape your identity based on your actions. It’s called Neuroplasticity. This is powerful, because people typically think they do things because of who they are. Dan Ariely performed a study that proved that the opposite is also true. He had subjects knowingly carry around fake Prada bags for a period of time. Then he had them take a test on which it was fairly easy to cheat. The results were incredible: the study found that people were more likely to cheat as a result!

Wearing a LIE turned into actual Deceit!

This means that if you choose to find focus by setting an intention in the morning – over and over, even though you don’t feel like it, even though it doesn’t come naturally – it will start to feel natural. Eventually, you’ll actually start to see yourself differently. You have the power to be someone who is focused. Someone who takes the time to find clarity. Someone who is dedicated. Someone who is the person they truly want to be!

This is seriously powerful. YOU can shape your identity. Just visualize the person you want to become, and do the things that that person would do. It’s hard at first, but so worth it. A new you awaits!

And we’re here to help you find that person.

At Teamsmith, we help you find a clear vision, create a personal growth statement, and then guide you to determine how to invest with small actions, incrementally.

As you start down this journey, you will encounter resistance. That’s your mind, telling you that the status quo is just fine. Safe, even.

DON’T LISTEN!

This is how you achieve dramatic results. The status quo is how you end up like everyone else. You only get one life – so live it fully. Choose one area in which you want to grow in the next 90 days and commit to the actions required to achieve the goal. Take our exercise, which identifies your growth area and the critical actions you need to complete to accomplish it!

Your future self thanks you.

Committed to Your Success,
John and your Coaches at Teamsmith
