Deleting Your Account

How to permanently delete your account, and what happens to your work

You can delete your Teamsmith account yourself, at any time, from either the web app or your phone. You don't need to email us or ring anyone.

Deleting is permanent. There's no deactivate-and-come-back-later; once it's done, it's done.

What happens depends on whether you're the last owner

Teamsmith checks this for you and tells you which one applies before you confirm.

If someone else owns the company too

Only your account goes. Your work stays with the business: it transfers to another owner, who is named on screen before you confirm.

Transferred across:

  • Your appointments
  • Your logged time, with the same hours and rates as when it was billed
  • Tasks assigned to you
  • Reports you saved
  • The jobs you're listed as a contributor on

Deleted:

  • Your sign-in, profile photo and passkeys
  • Your notifications and device settings

In the activity history, anything you did stays on the record; your name just shows as plain text instead of linking to an account that no longer exists.

If you're the last owner

There's nobody left to hand the business to, so deleting your account deletes the whole company and everything in it: clients, jobs, quotes, invoices, appointments, documents, suppliers and settings. Any other team members lose their accounts too.

If you'd rather the business carried on without you, make someone else an owner first, then delete your account. Your work transfers to them instead of being destroyed. See Managing Users for how to change someone's access.

Export anything you need first

Deleting is permanent and we can't get it back for you. If you want to keep invoices, quotes or reports, download them before you start.

Deleting your account

Before you confirm, Teamsmith shows you exactly what will be deleted and what will transfer, with real numbers from your account. Read that screen; it's the last chance to change your mind. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm.

Open Settings → Security, scroll to Delete Account and choose Delete Account.

Tap your avatar, then Settings → Account → Delete Account.

You'll be signed out as soon as it's finished.

Your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, so cancel it before or after you delete, otherwise you'll keep getting charged.

If you subscribed on the web, cancel under Settings → Billing → Manage subscription before you delete. If you subscribed through the iPhone app, the App Store bills you — cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings.

Just leaving the company?

If you're a team member moving on rather than closing the business, an owner can remove you from Settings → Team instead. Same result for your access, and there's nothing for you to do.
